Phase 1: Preparation and Safety Precautions

Before touching any hydraulic components, ensure the work environment is completely safe and free of contaminants:

  • Park on Level Ground: Lower the boom and bucket completely to the ground, shut down the engine, and engage the hydraulic lockout lever.

  • Relieve System Pressure: Hydraulic systems store high pressure even after engine shutdown. Safely relieve residual pressure from the hydraulic tank and lines according to the machine’s service manual guidelines.

  • Allow Cool-Down: The hydraulic oil and surrounding components can reach high temperatures during operation. Let the machine cool to prevent burns.

  • Clean the Work Area: Thoroughly steam-clean or wipe down the area around the return manifold and check valve block. Prevent dirt, dust, and debris from entering the open hydraulic system at all costs.

Phase 2: Removal of the Old Check Valve
